How to resize an image in 3 steps

Open an image
Choose a photo from your device. Check its current dimensions before deciding how large the result should be.
Enter the new dimensions
Choose units and enter a width. Leave height automatic to preserve proportions, or enter both dimensions and choose Fit, Fill or Stretch. Apply the settings.
Inspect and download
Export selected images, check the resulting pixel dimensions and download. Keep the original if you may need a larger version later.

Choose dimensions without distorting your photo

Fit keeps the whole image inside a box with any needed padding. Fill covers the box and crops the edges; adjust the focus if the subject is off-centre. Stretch forces both dimensions and can distort faces or products. Percentage sizing is useful when reducing a photo relative to its original size.

Turn a 4000 × 3000 photo into a 1000 × 750 website image by entering a width of 1000 and leaving height automatic.

Know the limits

Enlarging an image adds pixels, but cannot recover missing photographic detail. Maximum output: 24 megapixels and 12,000 pixels per side.

Private image editing on your device

Your images are opened and processed in your browser, not uploaded to a server. The website downloads the code and assets it needs to run, and some tools download a processing model. Those requests do not contain the photos you open. Download your results before closing the page; working images are not kept between visits.

Frequently asked questions

Does enlarging a photo improve its detail?

No. Resizing adds pixels but cannot recover detail missing from the source. Start with the largest original available.

Can I resize in centimetres or inches?

Yes. Physical dimensions use the PPI setting to calculate pixels. Check the Print size and DPI tool for print-specific controls.

Can I resize several photos together?
